Samsung Friends makes it easier to switch to the new Galaxy S8 and S8+

Samsung and the Mila platform offer neighborly service at the touch of a button

Zurich, 14. June 2017 – Shortly after the new Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ go on sale, Samsung Switzerland and Mila.com are introducing a new on-demand service to help users upgrade their devices for only 69 CHF. Over 3000 Samsung fans have registered in Switzerland to help perform onsite services like setup and data transfer to new devices. For an additional 9.90 CHF, the Friend can arrive within an hour. In this way, Samsung is responding to growing consumer demand for real-time service.

The data transfer problem has come to an end

Until now, transferring data from an old to a new smartphone has been inconvenient, with customers often relying on the expertise of friends, relatives, or phone provider itself to perform the complicated operation. In order to offer its customers additional service, Samsung Switzerland has entered into cooperation with Mila.com. Customers who purchase the new Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ can now book a suitable data transfer service with a nearby Samsung Friend for 69 CHF. The package includes the following services:

  • Arrival of Samsung Friend
  • Device setup (general settings)
  • Transfer of contact list
  • Data transfer (photos, music, notes, etc.)
  • Setup and synchronize email and calendar
  • Brief introduction to the device

“The new Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ offer customers advanced features such as unlocking with face recognition and the personal assistant Bixby. With the additional on-demand setup service provided via Mila, we want to help customers switch to the new device and learn how they can take full advantage of its advanced features,” explained Dario Casari, Sales Director Samsung Switzerland.

Samsung Friends are tech-savvy fans of the smartphone developer who work independently. Mila vets every application, taking the skills required into account. In addition, Samsung Friends are rated by the customer following the service.

Service within an hour

If a customer purchases the new Galaxy S8 or S8+, the setup and data transfer service can be booked directly on the Mila platform. The customer creates a service request via Mila, then the request is sent to qualified Samsung Friends in the area. The first Samsung Friend to accept the order gets the job, and checks in with the customer. 90% if the queries are distributed within three hours.

In addition, the customer can book immediate service within the hour for a small surcharge of 9.90 CHF. At least 5 Samsung Friends in the area must set their status in the app to “On Call.” “We believe that in the future, service will come to the customer just as a taxi or a pizza does today: with the click on a smartphone. This is our mission,” says Mila CEO Christian Viatte.
