- Pilot phase in Berlin and Ruhr area on mila.com
The crowdsourced tech support platform Mila has a new partner in innogy SmartHome., one of Europe’s biggest energy providers, with 23 million customers. Users of the smart home control system can now use Mila to find technically savvy people in their area to help them with installation of the system or other questions they may have. Mila will help connect innogy customers with innogy Friends—vetted local technicians—in Berlin and the Ruhr area. During the six-month pilot phase, customers will receive help with the innogy SmartHome products like smart thermostats, smart cams or smart locks.
Here’s how it works: owners of innogy SmartHome packages who need tech support can now easily get it at mila.com/innogy. After they submit a request, it goes out to certified innogy Friends in the area. The first Friend to accept the work order is awarded the contract and contacts the customer to determine an acceptable service date. Services offered include installation of the innogy app, initialization of the control center, setup of components like intelligent radiators, smoke detectors, or window sensors, and the interaction of those components with each other. The exact details of the job are decided between the customer and the innogy Friend. The estimated price for an initial installation is €39 per hour. The customer uses the Mila App to pay the Friend securely and cashlessly.
“Many consumers still don’t realize what is possible with a smart home system. With this service, nearby technicians can facilitate users’ access to the benefits of the networked home and provide help at the push of a button,” said Christian Viatte, CEO of Mila.
The technical know-how of the Friends makes it easy for newcomers to get started. With the help of Mila, anyone can find a personal Friend in their local community to help them with their innogy SmartHome products. Likewise, those with the requisite expertise can work with innogy and Mila to share their knowledge with others. With the new Mila App, Friends can easily manage their orders and customers can book a service in just a few minutes. Information on registration and the terms and conditions of the crowd service platform can be found at www.mila.com/innogy.
